The Bardic Mysteries

A talk on Zoom by Peter Dawkins, the second in a series about the various Mystery traditions and their ageless wisdom teachings.

The Bardic Mysteries, which include the Arthurian Mysteries, were developed by the Brythonic branch (Cymry) of the Celtic people in Britain to a high point and had a major influence on early Christianity when the first disciples of Jesus reached the country. The origins of the Bardic Mysteries are very ancient and had much in common with the Dionysian and Christian Mysteries, as also with the Hebraic and Egyptian Mysteries. But, like all Mystery traditions, it was also unique to the land that shaped its form – the form it gave to the wisdom. Indeed, the wisdom is in the land, waiting to be recognised, released and known. In this, the British Isles have a particularly unique role to play on the world stage. Like the Dionysian Mysteries, they are key to understanding the English Renaissance, as indeed to much of what is happening now.
